In loving memory of late Dr. Naimat Khan
Naimat Khan came to Lahore from Hoshiarpur, Punjab to study medicine in early 1900s. In those days India was a British colony and higher education institutes were being run by the East India Company. King Edward Medical College in Lahore (Pakistan), as the name suggests, was also run by the British Colonizers. It was not an easy task to get into such an institute for a young man of Indian decent. Naimat Khan was accepted in the medical program.
Probably influenced by his pears, he got into bird hunting, riding a motor cycle and owning an open top jeep. He was so enthusiastic about his outdoor adventures that he quit his job at Mayo Hospital Lahore and started a private practice so he could have the freedom of taking some time off whenever he desired. According to the information from some witnesses, he owned a Triumph motorcycle similar to one shown here and an R.B. Rhoda side by side shotgun, also shown here.
He frequenty went out for hunting with his buddies. He was especially involved with Mallard duck hunting and rabbit huting.
Around the First World War, he was drafted in the military's medical team by the British Colonizers to go help wounded British soldiers in Turkey. He got in trouble because he refused to side with the British crown. At that time, a revolution for India's freedom had already started and the Indian population's sentiments were not in favor of their occupiers.
